Briar Patch Bar B Que Information

Tucked along the busy stretch of Atlanta Highway in Hiram, Briar Patch Bar B Que has the kind of laid-back, no-frills charm that barbecue lovers tend to appreciate right away. It’s the sort of place where the smell of smoked meat hits you before you even open the door, setting expectations high before you’ve even glanced at the menu.

Inside, the atmosphere leans casual and welcoming, with a steady mix of locals who clearly treat this spot as a regular go-to. The dining area isn’t trying to impress with modern design or trendy touches; instead, it focuses on comfort, with simple seating and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settle in and focus on the food. Service follows that same tone-friendly, straightforward, and attentive without hovering. Staff are quick to offer recommendations, especially if it’s your first visit.

The menu centers around classic Southern barbecue staples, and it does so with confidence. Pulled pork is a standout, tender and smoky with just enough bark to give it texture, while the ribs carry that slow-cooked flavor that suggests patience and experience behind the smoker. Brisket, when available, brings a deeper, richer profile, though consistency can vary slightly depending on the day-a common reality in barbecue spots that cook fresh rather than in bulk. Sides like mac and cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw round things out well, each adding a familiar, comforting balance to the plate.

One thing that stands out from reading through various reviews and experiencing it firsthand is the consistency in flavor. While presentation isn’t the focus here, the quality of the meat and the depth of the smoke flavor keep people coming back. Portions are generous, making it a solid value for the price, especially compared to more polished barbecue chains.

The location is convenient for anyone passing through Hiram or nearby areas, and it feels very much rooted in the local community. It’s not trying to reinvent barbecue or compete with high-end smokehouses; instead, Briar Patch Bar B Que leans into tradition, delivering straightforward, satisfying meals that feel authentic to the region.

What People's Say About Place

I ordered the Beef Barbeque plate with Brunswick stew and sweet potatoes fries. The portions were generous, the food was absolutely delicious. The sweet tea here is the real southern thing. The barbeque sauce is very tangy with what tasted like a vinegar base with a pleasant hint of clove. The service was good here. I suggest this restaurant for a pleasant meal without all the crazy crowds of the city. This is one of the few places I have eaten where I got genuine southern hospitality and it is a new favorite. The art murals on the walls are very beautifully done.

I come here every time I'm back in town. I now reside in Florida where they do not have pork taters!!!!! Black Friday specials we're amazing and I even got two taters to take back to Florida with me tomorrow! Always yummy!

I have lived near this place for over 15 years and only just started going there a couple months ago. This place rocks. Food is good, cheap and plentiful. And this may seem like a minor detail but when you ask for a water you get a free bottled water. Like I said this may seem trivial but I think it's the icing on the cake. The barbecue sandwiches are execellent, and they have several different sauces, all of which are good. Service is always pleasant, even though it's a self serve place, the staff are always polite and friendly.

Great place! Food is really good despite the strange layout. Get the hickory fries. Funny enough they are on the salad menu.

Great customer service! Amazing food every time! We just love the made from scratch dressing! Literally order extra ranch everything time to have some for the rest of the week for my salads! We just love this place! The chicken tenders are the best in the area! The staff obviously likes their jobs and I would rather spend my money at a family owned local business any day! Highly recommend!!!

The staff are very friendly and courteous. It smells good inside, like any proper BBQ place should smell. The service was very quick--I called in my order, was told it would be 10-15 mins tops. I went inside after 10 mins and was picking up my order within 2 mins. They provided pre-packaged plasticware with napkins, and the servings of salad dressing really were large, per the description. I haven't eaten there in 15 years, but it was still as good as I remembered. Prior to that, I hadn't eaten there in about 15 years, and it was very good then as well. I don't live near Briar Patch, but if I did, I'd definitely visit more often than once every 15 years.

Cheese steak and fries!!! Lunch specials are fantastic. We love this place and highly recommend it

Homemade banana pudding. You'll thank me later. The prices are a little higher than the other BBQ restaurants in the area, but the quality has always been really good and most of their food comes from homemade recipes that are very good. The menu is the standard BBQ menu, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, fries, etc., I definitely recommend giving them a try. Locally owed.
